DATA CENTERS
Fiber optics is the infrastructure of choice in data center networks.
Teliswitch all-optical switching technology
AODF-DC technology is first and foremost about reliability and flexibility, allowing data centers designers and operators to extract the highest value from their most expensive asset, in terms of ongoing flexibility of intra- and inter-connections, reduced response times, elimination of errors and reductions in down-time, together with an opportunity to continuously optimize the performance of the IDC, and perhaps create new services.
Key Features
- Choice of industry-standard passive connectors as internal switching media, offers the most consistent performance, across a wide range of optical signals or protocols and other operating conditions
- AODF-DC being passive means no impact in case of power failure, SW bug, maintenance SW updates
- Patented 3D geometry ensuring non-blocking connections at all times
- The same patented 3D geometry ensures consistent performance across any port counts
- No moving parts (except during operation of the robotic module) and no fans or other components requiring periodic maintenance
- SW control, in general provides additional safety checks to changes of configurations, and special features such as “dual-key” change control, where critical fiber connections (e.g. 100G or super-channels) cannot be manipulated without 2 operators “in control”, adding another layer of security to the crucial trunks or services
- Ability to make the changes when & where needed, safely with no errors, and no delays
- Modularity to enable a wide range of switching volumes, by adding additional AODF-DC units to the mesh; Growth of the system from small to large is performed without impact on existing services, just adding additional AODF-DC modules via the FOBO
- Same modularity brings tremendous advantages in terms of reliability and protection: no active central entity, not inside the AODF-DC, not in the FOBO, allowing implementation of N+M redundancy as opposed to 2M, and recovery in minutes as opposed to hours
- Ability to set different connection configuration paths to match service provider goals, such as input-output, output-output and input-multiple-output (with splitters)
- High-density switching (12 FO) to support migration to 40G, 100G and beyond
- Full automation of the fiber connectivity, reducing the cost of changes, and shortening greatly the time to implementation, allowing more slacks to another task while still achieving the delivery Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Environmentally friendly (power, temperature, humidity, vibrations) to allow service providers to deploy AODF-DC where needed while recovering space normally occupied by manual ODF/PP.
